Welcome to 550 Snowmobile Club Trail Report Page. On this first page would like to give you overview of the club and our trail system. If you have been with us before and what get to  the report click here.

The club was founded over 20 years ago for the purpose of promoting the sport of Snowmobiling, and the development of trail systems in Big Bay. Our club is the DNR grant sponsor  for 64 miles of trail. We use a Tucker Snow Cat Groomer with a 8’ Arrow Drag. Our Groomer Operator is Dennis (Dude) Wilcoxs.

The trails in our system are, 5, 14, 310, Wilson Creek Loop, Yellow Dog Loop, and the spur trail coming into Big Bay. Conditions in our system can very to one extreme to anther due to  the influence of Lake Superior and the change altitude of trails. This can make the job of grooming a challenge.

We groom trail 5 from the intersection of 5 / 310/ Big Bay spur on the east end, to the intersection of trail 5 / 14 on the west end, where trail 5 heads south and becomes the Moose  Country Club system.

We groom trail 14 from intersection of trails 5 / 14 on the east end, to Anderson Homestead on the west end, where Baraga County takes over.

We groom trail 310 from the intersection 5 / Big Bay spur on the north end, to the Halfway Location and the intersection of Wilson Creek Loop on the south. From there we head  west on the Wilson Creek Loop to the intersection of County Road 510. You have to take County Road 510 north to the start of the Yellow Dog Loop (use care this is a plowed road)  where you will turn west , and  we start grooming again, to the intersection of trail 5. At this intersection you can turn left and go west out to trail 5 south, or trail 14 west, or you can go east back to Big Bay.

For a look at our trail system click on link Sled the Web. This map is furnish to us by our good friends at Michigan Interactive home of the Fish Web and Sled The Web.
